Rainbet Betting Rules NZ

Understanding the Rainbet betting rules before placing a sports wager can help prevent confusion about accepted bets, settlement results, postponed events and market-specific conditions. This guide explains the main sportsbook rules relevant to New Zealand readers in a shorter and more accessible format.

The rules shown beside an individual market always require particular attention. Market availability, betting limits and account access can vary according to location, event and sportsbook risk controls.

This page is an informational summary. The conditions displayed on the sportsbook at the time a bet is placed remain decisive.

  • Postponed event: Usually remains active if resumed within the permitted period
  • Incorrect odds: The sportsbook may cancel or correct affected bets

When Is a Rainbet Sports Bet Valid?

Selecting a market and entering a stake does not automatically create an accepted bet. A wager becomes valid only after it has been confirmed by the sportsbook and recorded in the player’s My Bets section.

Odds can change between selecting an outcome and confirming the wager. If the sportsbook does not accept the requested price or stake, the bet may be rejected or returned for confirmation at revised odds.

Once accepted, a bet cannot normally be edited or cancelled by the player. This also applies to wagers placed accidentally, duplicated bets and incorrect stake amounts. Players should therefore review every selection, price and stake before confirming the betslip.

For an introduction to the interface and available features, see the Rainbet Sportsbook NZ guide.

Main Rainbet Bet Types

Single Bet

A single contains one selection from one market. The bet wins when that selection is settled as correct.

The basic potential return is calculated by multiplying the stake by the accepted decimal odds.

Combo or Parlay Bet

A combo combines two or more independent selections. All active selections must win for the complete bet to be successful.

If one selection loses, the entire combo loses. When a selection is void, it is normally recalculated at odds of 1.00 while the remaining selections continue.

Selections that directly depend on one another cannot usually be added to an ordinary combo unless the sportsbook permits the combination through Bet Builder.

System Bet

A system divides several selections into multiple smaller combinations. This can allow part of the wager to return a payout even when not every selection wins.

The total stake is distributed across the number of combinations included in the selected system. Players should check the complete stake and number of bets shown in the betslip before confirming.

How Rainbet Markets Are Settled

Market settlement follows this order:

  1. The specific rules displayed for the market;
  2. The rules applying to that sport;
  3. The general Rainbet betting rules.

A market-specific condition therefore takes priority over a general rule. For example, a market labelled “Including Overtime” is settled differently from a standard match-result market.

Results are determined from recognised official data sources. Live scores, match clocks, statistics and streams displayed through the interface are informational and may be delayed.

Regular Time, Extra Time and Penalties

Unless the market states otherwise, sports bets are settled using regular time.

Regular time includes recognised stoppage or injury time but normally excludes:

  • extra time;
  • overtime;
  • penalty shootouts;
  • tie-break periods played after regular time;
  • other additional periods not specifically included in the market.

For football, a standard 1X2 market generally covers 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A team progressing after extra time or penalties does not make a regular-time selection a winner unless that outcome was explicitly included.

Different timing rules apply to rugby, basketball, tennis, cricket, esports and other sports. NZ readers interested in rugby markets can consult the Rainbet Rugby Betting NZ guide.

Common Betting Markets

Match Result

A match-result market asks the player to predict the outcome of an event.

Depending on the sport, the available selections may include:

  • home win;
  • draw;
  • away win;
  • either participant to win in a two-way market.

Totals

Totals predict whether the combined number of goals, points, games or another recorded statistic will finish over or under a displayed line.

When the result exactly matches a whole-number line, the bet may be void and the stake returned. Half-point lines avoid this outcome because the final result cannot equal the selected line.

Handicap

A handicap gives one participant a virtual advantage or disadvantage before settlement.

European handicaps can include a draw outcome. Asian handicaps may produce a full win, partial win, refund, partial loss or full loss depending on the selected line and final result.

Player Markets

Player bets may be void when the named participant does not enter the event. If the player participates and is later injured or substituted, the wager normally remains active unless the specific market rules state otherwise.

Participation and settlement requirements vary between sports, so the conditions attached to the selected market must be reviewed before confirming the wager.

Outright Markets

Outrights cover the result of an entire tournament, competition, season or series rather than one match.

These bets can remain unsettled for an extended period. Changes to participants, schedules and tournament formats are handled under the rules displayed for the particular competition.

Live Betting Rules

Live odds change as an event develops and may be temporarily suspended after important moments such as a goal, try, penalty, red card or video review.

A live selection is valid only after the sportsbook confirms it. The price visible when a player first clicks the market is not guaranteed until acceptance.

The scoreboard, timer and statistics displayed in the interface should not be treated as the official result. Delays can occur between the event, data provider and sportsbook interface.

Some live markets cover only what happens after the bet is placed. For example, “Winner of the Rest of the Match” treats the score from the moment of acceptance as a new starting point rather than using the complete final score.

Postponed, Cancelled and Abandoned Events

If an event is postponed, cancelled or ends without an official result, Rainbet generally allows a period of up to 48 hours for the event to begin or resume.

If it is not played or resumed within the applicable period, affected bets are normally void and the original stakes are returned. Refund processing for cancelled events may take up to 12 hours.

Markets that were already unconditionally determined before an event was abandoned may still be settled. For example, a first-scorer market can remain valid when the first scorer was established before play stopped.

Individual sports can use different abandonment rules. The specific sport and market conditions therefore take priority over the general 48-hour rule.

What Does a Void Bet Mean?

A void bet is neither a winning nor a losing wager. The original cash stake is returned, and the selection is technically settled at odds of 1.00.

A bet may be void because of:

  • an event cancellation or extended postponement;
  • an abandoned match;
  • a participant not taking part;
  • an incorrect market or obvious odds error;
  • a technical problem;
  • a whole-number handicap or total ending exactly on the selected line;
  • a sport-specific settlement rule.

In a standard combo, a void selection is usually reduced to odds of 1.00 while the other selections remain active.

Bet Builder can work differently. If one Bet Builder selection is void, the complete Bet Builder may also be void unless another included selection has already lost.

Why Can a Bet Be Rejected or Cancelled?

Rainbet or its sportsbook provider may reject, limit or cancel a wager in circumstances including:

  • the requested odds are no longer available;
  • the stake exceeds the permitted limit;
  • the market has been suspended;
  • an obvious pricing or technical error occurred;
  • the event or result cannot be reliably verified;
  • related selections were combined incorrectly;
  • suspicious event activity was identified;
  • sportsbook rules or fair-play conditions were breached.

Automated betting tools, multiple accounts used to bypass restrictions, coordinated betting activity and deliberate exploitation of incorrect odds can also lead to bets being voided and account restrictions being applied.

Rainbet Betting Limits

Minimum stakes, maximum stakes and potential winnings can vary by:

  • sport;
  • competition;
  • market;
  • odds;
  • bet type;
  • account;
  • sportsbook risk assessment.

The permitted amount is displayed in the betslip. A previously accepted stake does not guarantee that the same amount will be available on another event or at a later time.

Rainbet states that sportsbook risk controls and individual betting restrictions are managed through its sportsbook provider. An account may therefore receive lower limits or lose access to particular markets following a risk assessment.

Cash Out Rules

Cash Out allows an eligible bet to be settled before the event finishes at the value currently offered by the sportsbook.

The amount can be higher or lower than the original stake and may change as odds move. Cash Out is not guaranteed and can be adjusted, suspended or removed at any time.

Once the player accepts a Cash Out offer, the bet is considered settled under the displayed terms. Its result will not be recalculated using the event’s eventual outcome.

Bet Builder Rules

Bet Builder combines multiple markets from the same event into one wager. All included selections must generally win for the Bet Builder to return a winning result.

If one selection loses, the complete Bet Builder loses. A void selection can cause the complete Bet Builder to be void after the remaining selections are settled, unless another selection has already lost.

Bet Builder availability depends on the event and markets currently offered.

Early Payout and Promotional Features

Early Payout can settle an eligible selection as a winner after a specified match condition is reached, even if the final result later changes.

Only events and markets carrying the relevant Early Payout indicator qualify. The threshold and eligibility conditions displayed with the offer control the settlement.

Odds Boost and ComboBoost may also apply automatically to eligible bets. These features can have separate minimum-odds, market and bet-type conditions.

Current casino and sportsbook offers can be reviewed on the Rainbet bonuses page.

Rainbet Freebet Rules

A Rainbet Freebet is used on the sportsbook and cannot be withdrawn as cash before it is wagered.

When a Freebet wins:

  • the original promotional stake is not returned;
  • only the net profit is credited;
  • the Freebet is consumed after use;
  • selection and odds requirements must be satisfied;
  • an expiry period applies.

Freebet requirements can vary between promotions. The offer page, bonus section and conditions displayed when the reward is activated should be checked before placing the wager.

If the Freebet is used on a void selection, its return and reissue depend on the applicable promotional rules. Promotional terms can also determine whether parlays, live wagers or particular markets qualify.

Deposits, Withdrawals and Sportsbook Rules

Sportsbook rules govern betting mechanics and settlements. Account verification, deposits, withdrawals and payment eligibility are covered separately.

Relevant information is available through:

A winning sports bet does not remove verification, payment or account requirements that may apply before a withdrawal is approved.

Before Placing a Rainbet Sports Bet

Complete these checks before confirming a wager:

  1. Confirm that the correct event and participant are selected.
  2. Review whether the market covers regular time or includes overtime.
  3. Check the accepted odds rather than the initially displayed price.
  4. Verify the complete stake for combos and systems.
  5. Read any sport-specific participation rules.
  6. Confirm promotional eligibility before using a Freebet.
  7. Check that the wager appears in My Bets.
  8. Keep a record of the bet reference if a settlement review may be needed.

Responsible Sports Betting

Sports betting results are uncertain, and no market or strategy guarantees a profit. Limits should be based on an affordable entertainment budget rather than expected winnings.

Players should avoid chasing losses, increasing stakes to recover previous bets or using borrowed money. Anyone who finds it difficult to control their activity should stop betting and use the support information available on the Responsible Gambling page.

18+ only. Availability is subject to location, applicable rules and account eligibility.
